A woman’s work is never done

“A man may work from dusk to dawn, but a woman’s work is never done”

This quote, from the time of the American Revolution, is probably as true today as it was back then. At least in my own home, I know this to be true. And for stay-at-home Moms, their only paycheck is the love and appreciation of their Family.

This morning I told my Wife that I feel I also am never done working. Constantly things are on my plate that have to be done. There never seems to be a break for me.
No sooner had the words left my lips than I realized my lack of mindfulness. Once again it became about me.
I see this attachment to self as one that I easily cling to. A self-protective measure I suppose, to attempt to secure my value in this World.
But as I examine this, I see how delusional this thinking really is. By putting an expectation on anyone else to see my value brings about a complete absence of compassion and equanimity.

Fortunately, wisdom that has been gained through my practice, woke me to unskillful and unwholesome thought. How grateful I am that I am alive and healthy and may work to benefit my Family and many other beings.
How many others suffer so greatly because they lack work, despite their tremendous need to support their Families and provide the basic necessities of food and shelter.
I actually have the strength and ability to do more. I have the love and compassion to help so many, and this is a tremendous blessing bestowed on me.
May I continue to grow in mindfulness and wisdom so I may act skillfully and for the benefit of others.
May we each be grateful for the many blessings that we have, and give generously to others in need.

And as always, may you be well, happy and peaceful.
